Wow what a crazy time! On Friday March 13th, 2020 Granite District was put on a soft closure meaning that students would not be coming to school for 2 weeks because of COVID-19. Teachers were to start putting packets together and put learning online. Team 3rd Grade worked hard to get everything in place. The West Valley area had quite an Earthquake on March 18th, this really scared people and was not something we needed added to the list of things we were already dealing with.
It came out a week later that schools would continue Distance Learning until the end of April. Students have done an amazing job at getting work completed online and in packet form. On Wednesday April 1st the teachers at Orchard came together to do a School Parade. It was AMAZING to see the students with their signs supporting us teachers. Seeing the students sweet faces was bittersweet! We all miss the students so much.
Huge shout out to the Parents out there! You guys are working hard and learning new things and supporting your sweet kiddos the best you can during this crazy time!
Love and miss you!
A New School Year
Wednesday, August 28, 2019
School is back in session!! I am so excited to have such a great group of kiddos! As a third grade we have talked about things we want our students to know and the best way that we can teach them. We have decided to work on 4 main standards for Math this year and will adjust as needed. We have set goals for ELA and really want the students able to answer questions, comprehend what they are reading and enjoy reading as well.

Summer is almost here
Wednesday, May 8, 2019
I can't believe how fast this year has gone. We have about 2 weeks left of school! Students did great on the RISE Math test and Dibels! I have to wait until the Fall to get their ELA RISE scores.
I am so proud of my students! I will miss them over the summer. Speaking of Summer.... Please remember to read this summer and do some sort of math work to keep things fresh in their minds!

Catching Up
Friday, November 16, 2018
Students have been doing some great things the last few weeks. We are full force into Multiplication and the students are loving it, they are doing great!!
I will be sending home a packet for extra practice of the Standards we have been working on the last little bit. We as a 3rd grade team thought this would be a great way to give students some extra practice before we give them the chance to reassess the Standard.
We disguised some turkeys at school and they are so cute! I can't wait for your students to bring them home to share with you. Please have a safe and fun long weekend with your families. We will see you back at school on Monday November 26th.

The Holidays have arrived
Friday, December 15, 2017
Hello everyone! I can't believe that the Holidays are here and 2017 is coming to an end. We have been working hard here in 2nd Grade. We will be taking our DIBELS testing the second week in January. This is a reading test that the students take 3 times a year. Don't forget what our Principal Mrs. Chandler always tell us, We have to read everyday that we eat. I hope that all of us are getting those reading minutes in :)

Term 1
Wednesday, October 25, 2017
Term 1 is ending this week. Grades will be sent home soon and there is a change in our grading scale, please note this when looking at your student's grades. 4 is the highest grade your student can get and when it comes to citizenship 4 is above proficient so not many of those were given.
The students in my class are working so hard and we are having fun too. We are ready to celebrate Halloween!! Keep working hard kiddos!
